The Cutting Edge

Be careful, it's sharp! You'll poke your eye out, kid! Don't run with those! Watch where you're pointing those earlid puppet rods!

Only one of those caveats applies to this film. You'll have to figure out which one for yourself.

We've updated our earlids puppeteering plans. Instead of using a pulley system, we will now be utilizing metal rods, à la Muppet arms. Cutting edge technology! These rods, which will be painted in chroma green to ease their removal in post, will be detachable, extending out of the earlids through a pocket in the bottom. In addition, we're creating an internal skeleton for the prosthetics to provide structure, giving us more control over their movement.

The cutting edge of puppet technology. It's sharp.

With these alterations, the earlids' motion will be much more lifelike. You know, because earlids are real.

And now for your earlids fun fact of the week! Did you know...That the earlids will bloat when wet? The ingredients are hydrophillic, meaning the prosthetic attracts water. If they get wet or are in a humid environment, they will take in this H2O, making them swell. Looks like Lee can never get wet, or else his earlids will expand into true Dumbo ears.

Now you know.

Be sure to check out our Kickstarter. Thanks to all our backers so far! We're making good progress, but still a bit to go. All help is greatly appreciated!

Filming is now less than two weeks away. Up for this week: rehearsals, tech scouts, and camera tests, oh my!
